Funeral of John P. McGeady.
The funeral of John P. McGeady, who died Monday evening, took place from his late residence on Church Street Wednesday morning.  The funeral cortege proceeded to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, of which he was a devoted member, where a requiem high mass was celebrated for the repose of his soul.
After the mass Rev. J. J. Quinn, the pastor, paid a high tribute to the merits of the deceased.  His high character, rigid honesty and fervid religious principles, followed by timely suggestions on the need of always being prepared for death being his theme.  In the sanctuary with Father Quinn were Rev. J. J. Brady, of Meyersdale, Pa., and Rev. J. P. Nolan, of St. Mary's, Lonaconing, who knew and loved Mr. McGeady from their childhood.
Mr. McGeady was one of the best known and most esteemed citizens of this community.  An ardent lover of his adopted country, a favorite _expression was "that as a long as we adhered to the provisions of the Constitution we could not go wrong."  He considered it one of the greatest - if not the greatest - of all human documents and was thoroughly versed an all its details.
He was also a strenuous believer, upholder of the doctrine of complete independence for Ireland - his native country.  Broad minded and liberal in his views, charitable in all things, a good citizen and ardent Christian, he will be sorely missed, not only by his aged life partner and immediate family; but by his host of friends throughout the county.
The funeral proceeded after mass, by automobile to Lonaconing, where the interment was made in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery.  The pall bearers were: John McMahon, Petter Ennis, Thomas McGraw, William Monohan, John Murphy, Jas. P. Stakem.
