JOHN W LOAR
FROSTBURG — John William Loar, 88, of 100 Honey Suckle Lane, Apt. 206, Frostburg, formerly of Lonaconing, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Midland, on April 12, 1914, he was the son of the late William Loar and Destmonia (Powell) Loar. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ray Snyder Jr.
Mr. Loar was a former coal miner, construction worker and retired from the Railroad after 25 years. He was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing. He was formerly on the administrative board of the church, and a member of AARP.
Surviving are his wife, Irene (Williamson) Loar; a son, Harold Loar and wife Lucy, Roanoke, Va.; three daughters, Lois Snyder, Glen Burnie, Mary McKenzie and husband Ed, Frostburg, and Joyce McElvie, Carlisle, Pa.; son-in-law, Bill McElvie, Lonaconing; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Julia Loar, Lonaconing, Anna Loar, Lonaconing, Mary Llewellyn, Rawlings, Ella Fazenbaker, Lonaconing, and Esther Wiland, Lonaconing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., 19814 Big Lane, Midland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating. Friends will also be received one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Inc., Keyser, W.Va.
