JOSEPH P MCGOWAN
FROSTBURG -- Joseph P. McGowan, 87, formerly of 51 Broadway, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at the St. Vincent dePaul Nursing Center.
Born on April 4, 1914, in Midland, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (McCabe) McGowan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. (Warn) McGowan on June 23, 1994; one brother, John McGowan; and two sisters, Hilda Blucker and Florence McCloskie.
Mr. McGowan was retired from the spinning department of the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are one son, Joseph McGowan, McHenry; four daughters, Patricia Schultz and husband Charles, Frostburg, Mary Whitaker and husband Carl, Frostburg, Janis Young and husband Joseph, North Carolina, and Karen Siebert, Ridgeley, W.Va.; one sister, Edna Downton, Egle Nursing Home; one brother, James McGowan, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Mr. McGowan's wishes, a private funeral service was held for family only, at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Monday at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. William Moody officiating.
Following the services his body was cremated.
Inurnment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
