MARVIN L METZ, SR

CUMBERLAND ‹ Marvin Leroy Metz Sr., 54, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1945, in Frostburg, he was the son of Florence "Flossie" (Jones) Metz, Midland, and the late Joseph Metz. He also was preceded in death by his triplet sister, Mary Jo Metz; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Jenkins.

Mr. Metz was a 1964 graduate of Valley High School. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by C.S.X. Transportation where he had been a brakeman, conductor, and yard foreman. He was a member of the Emmanuel Bethel United Methodist Church, Potomac Lodge #100, A.F. & A.M., 32nd degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies, and Ali Ghan Shrine where he was a member of the Desert Legion Unit.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Mae (Jenkins) Metz; three children, Melissa Michelle Metz, Mindy Lynn Metz and Marvin Leroy Metz Jr., all at home; one granddaughter, Tamara Dawne Metz, at home; one sister, Rose Schriver and husband Melvin, Moscow; three brothers, Joseph Metz and wife Becky, Vale Summit, Wayne Metz and wife Brenda, Sharpsburg, and his triplet brother, Michael Solomon Metz, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; his father-in-law, Floyd "Jack" Jenkins, Cumberland; his sister-in-law, Jackie Twigg and husband Edward, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Officers and members of Potomac Lodge #100, A.F. & A.M., will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mildred Martin officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be accorded by the local combined veterans honor guard.
