The children listed were, Lloyd,6 months. There was also a William Ravenscroft listed. He was 17 at thetime. This may have been a brother to John.
In the 1870 Census the following information was found. JohnRavenscroft was 30 years of age and Mary was 34. John worked as a Laborin a Saw Mill and had real property worth 1,200 dollars. He was born inMaryland and Mary in Pennsylvania. The following children listed were.
Lloyd, 10, Sarah, 8, Elizabeth, 6, John T, 4, Rachael, 2, and Crawford, 2months, April 1870.
All the children were listed as being born in Maryland.In the Frostburg Mining Journal dated March 13, 1880
Mr. John Ravenscroft, well known in this vicinity, purchased OddFellows Opera House, which was sold at public Auction last Saturday forthe sum of $5,000.
John married Mary Ann Deal. Mary was born 31 Mar 1836 in Grantsville, Maryland. She died 16 Jun 1913 in Sand Patch, PA.
In the 1900 Census of Somerset County, PA, it showed that Mary A.Ravenscroft lived with her son Theodore. Mary was 64 at the time andTheodore was 30. They lived next to John Thomas Ravenscroft and hisfamily.
Sudden Death (June 16, 1913)
Mrs. Mary Ann Ravenscroft, widow of the late John Ravenscroft, ofthis place, died suddenly Sunday, 15th inst., at the family home, SandPatch, Pa., aged 77 years. She was afflicted with heart trouble andasthma, and death same suddenly. John T. Ravenscroft, of Miller Mine, isone of several bereaved sons. The funeral was held at the family homeyesterday morning. The party leaving at 10 o'clock with the body forinterment beside her husband in the cemetery of the M.E. Church atJohnson's.
With her husband Mrs Ravenscroft lived many years in Frostburg.During this period Mr. Ravenscroft projected and built what is now knownas the "Frostburg Opera House."A second Obituary
Mrs Mary Ann Ravenscroft, 77 years old, mother of John T.Ravenscroft, Vale Summit, this county, died suddenly Sunday at her homeat Sand patch. She had been walking about the house and fell over.Death was due to asthma and heart disease. Eight children and 31grandchildren survive. The body was taken to the Johnson Cemetery.
