Lonaconing, Maryland, July 25. 1934: Mr. & Mrs. Montezuma Myers lastnight celebrated the Golden Anniversary of their marriage yesterdayevening in a little glen in Laurel Run near Moscow, this county, theiraffair having been a surprise outdoor dinner arranged by Thier childrenand grandchildren
The setting was one in keeping with the lives of these two persons,descendants of pioneers of this country who still reside on the Roundthat has been in their family for more than a century. Covers werespread on the glad near the Laurel Run and the honored guests and theirchildren were all seated around the one large cover.
Mr. & Mrs. Myers were married on the evening of July 24. 1884 at tge gineif tge Latters Mother Mrs, Elizabeth Morgan in Moscow, by the ReverandMr. Cribb, then Pastor of the Barton Methodist Episcopal Church. Theywere attended ay Thomas H. Morgan, former employment Manager for theCelanese Corporation of America and his brother Joseph Morgan now ofLansing, Ohio. Miss Margaret & Maria Prichard now Mrs. William Douglasof this place and Mrs, Frederick Knippenberg of Akron, Ohio andLonaconing, All of the party are still living and in active health.
The dinner was presided over by the Reverand Seldon Connor Adams, Pastorof the First Presbyterian Church of Lonaconing, who asked the blessing.Music was furnished by four youths, Frank and Carl Pyles and Clifford andTed Green.
Thomas H. Morgan told several humorous incidents of the night of thewedding. Miss Ruth Wilkes granddaughter wore the wedding dress of Mrs.Myers and featured with an old time dance. Dancing and games followed theshort program.
Mr. Myers is the son of the late B.F. & Catherine Myers members of one ofhte county's earliest pioneer families and at one time owners of all theland of what is now known as Caladonia and Swanton sold by them for$1500.00 and since then there has been a fortune in coal taken from thisland.
Mrs. Myers was Sarah Elizabeth Cook daughter of the late William C. &Elizabeth Cook Morgan. Her Mother was the first licensed woman Ministerin the State of Maryland. The family has resided within a radius of onemile of the present home during their entire lifetime.. They are theparents of 10 children 9 of whom are still living, 51 grandchildren and 5great grandchildren.
The day following their marriage they left for the MT. Lake Park fromBarton on the first excursion run over the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad tothat place. The entire wedding party attended the excursion.

Frostburg-Mrs. Edith M. Robertson, 92, of 35 Beall Street, died Monday inSacred Heart Hospital.
Born in Moscow, she was a daughter of the late Montezuma and Sarah (Cook)Myers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Robertson.
Surviving are one son, Joseph "Mont" Robertson, Pittsburgh, Pa. threedaughters, Mrs. Evelyn Murphy, Frostburg, Mrs. Helen Verrill, Glen Burnieand Mrs, Mary Stonesifer, Frederick, one sister, Mrs. Mabel Metz, Moscow,10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
