According to his sister he suffered from Alzheimers and fell out of hissecond story bedroom window. A passerby saw him fall and woke up hiswife. He died in the fall.

WESTERNPORT-Maurice E. Broadwater, 71 of Westernport, passed away onSunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Franklin Square Hospital, BaltimoreBorn April 2, 1927, he was the son of the late Harmon J. Broadwater andAnna B. (Gardner) Broadwater. He was also preceded in death by twobrothers, Robert Allen and Lloyd C. Broadwater, a brother-in-law, HarryLiller, and a special nephew, Jerry Tichnell.
Mr. Broadwater was a World War II veteran, a member of Victory Post #155American Legion, Westernport, and he was a Methodist by faith butattended different churches.
Surviving are five sisters, Kathryn Liller, Keyser, W. Va. EulahFazenbaker and husband Vernon, Swanton, Norman Jean Hoffman and husband,Gilbert, McCoole and Betty Brennan and husband, Robert, Frostburg VillageNursing Home, two brothers, Charles Broadwater and wife, Sue, Keyser,W.Va. and Richard Broadwater and wife, Irene, Keyser, a special nephew,Junior Fazenbaker, Barton, and several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received a the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, onTuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 P.M.with the Rev. Steffan Carr officiating
Internment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, with fullmilitary honors accorded at grave side.

He was employed as a chief information officer of financial services.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marna B.Schmidt of Paducah, Kentucky, and Melanie C. Schmidt of Exton, a brother,Robert E. Schmidt of Conway, Arkansas, and a sister Susan Benedict ofDowners Grove, Illinois.
