WILLIAM B MCKINLEY JR
MIDLAND -- William B. McKinley Jr., 52, of Midland, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Aug. 28, 1948, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late William B. McKinley Sr. and Marie (Ricker) McKinley.
Mr. McKinley was a 1966 graduate of LaSalle High School, a 1971 graduate of West Penn Hospital, School of Respiratory Therapy and a 1988 graduate of Ottawa University, B.S. of Health Care Administration. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland. He was awarded the Archdiocese Medal of Honor in November 1996. Mr. McKinley was a 35 year employee of Sacred Heart Hospital, now a part of Western Maryland Health System. He was also the Systems Director of the Neurology, Pulmonary and Respiratory Departments and the Home Care Consultant for the Western Maryland Health System. He was the Advisory Committee Chairman at Allegany College School of Respiratory and a member of the Fore Sisters Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Mary Rita (Burns) McKinley; one daughter, Molly McKinley, Owings Mills; one son, Michael McKinley, at home; mother-in-law, Rita Burns, Midland; two sisters, Jacqueline Marsh and husband Tom, Westernport, and Kathy Hast and husband Jim, Hagerstown; one brother, Greg McKinley and wife Heidi, Frostburg; nieces and nephews, Troy and Stacey Marsh, Atlanta, Ga., Adam Marsh, Denver, Colo., Maria Marsh, Westernport, James and Matthew Hast, Hagerstown, Jessie, Melissa and Nicholas McKinley, Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Midland.
Pallbearers will be Frank and Ed Buckley, Tom and Troy Marsh, Dr. Richard Schmitt and Joseph Lazorchak.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Respiratory Staff of the Western Maryland Health System and Jim Stakem, John Violante, Harry Devlin and Pat McMahon.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church, Midland, or the William B. McKinley Jr. Respiratory Scholarship Fund at Allegany College.
